Dan Clapson is a best-selling cookbook author, award-winning food personality, and one of Canada’s most trusted authorities on restaurant culture and dining trends. Over the past decade, his work has appeared in a wide range of acclaimed publications including The Globe & Mail, Eater, Out Magazine, Xtra, Canada’s 100 Best, Food Network Canada, the Calgary Herald, Eat North, and more.
Highly regarded for his editorial insight and deep knowledge of the national dining landscape, Clapson is a co-founder of the food media outlet Eat North and often serves as a panelist for Canada’s most prestigious restaurant award programs, including Canada’s 100 Best Restaurants, Canada’s 50 Best Bars, and Air Canada’s Best New Restaurants.
In 2023, his debut cookbook Prairie became a Globe & Mail bestseller, further cementing his reputation as a leading voice in Canadian food media. He is also a regular guest on national television, appearing on shows such as The Social, The Good Stuff with Mary Berg, Breakfast Televsion and CTV’s Your Morning.
Beyond publishing and broadcasting, Clapson is an award-winning cultural producer and passionate community collaborator. As the creator of the acclaimed Blue Jay Sessions songwriters' series, he has been recognized as a leading music industry figure, earning four CCMA Award nominations and multiple wins for Talent Buyer of the Year from Country Music Alberta. In addition to being named Industry Person of the Year by the YYC Music Awards (2024), he is also a proud co-owner of The Prairie Emporium, a Calgary-based venue that hosts food pop-ups, performances, and creative events throughout the year.
Dan happily splits his time between Calgary, Prague and Toronto.
